H&P Architects have recently completed this hair salon in Hanoi, Vietnam, that has 200,000 threaded wood beads covering the ceiling.

The hair salon, named Mành Mành salon, has a small outdoor patio. Hanging angled above the patio and underneath a glass cover, are just some of the wood beads. They help to create an interesting look along the street and add to the curb appeal.

Once you enter into the salon, you really see the full extent that the beads have been used in the interior. Just inside are a few wood benches for waiting guests.

Each threaded length of beads has an average of 11 beads on each strand.

The beads really do cover the entire ceiling, and they look contemporary when combined with the brick walls, and the wood and leather furniture.

Each of the beads used are made from two different types of wood, with the majority of the threaded beads the same color, except for the end bead, which is darker.

Here’s a closer look at the beads. Each individual bead had to have a knot tied after the bead to hold it in place on the thread.

It was up to a team of people that included employees from Mành Mành salon, H&P Architects, as well as volunteers, to create each strand individually and by hand.
