When multidisciplinary design practice DAAA Haus were asked to transform a old vaulted wharf in Malta, into the Valletta Waterfront Marina Club, they also had to design the restaurant. Part of the design of the restaurant included creating a floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall wine library.

The wine library is the main backdrop of the restaurant, but also serves as a partition between the main dining area and the sanitary and storage facilities.

Diamond-shaped sections provide a place to store the wine, with each type of wine getting its own diamond. Tags on the bottles make it easy to differentiate between the wines.

At the bottom of the wall, wooden sections have been used to raise the wine up off the floor so there isn’t any accidental breaking of the bottles when people walk by, plus it adds another design element to the wall.
