Architecture firm KRADS has designed a holiday home for a couple of musicians in Iceland, that showcases a green roof that allows the house to blend in with the landscape.
Carefully placed on a densely overgrown hill, the home has been designed with a concrete foundation and three staggered planes that follow the movement of the surrounding area.
The green roof has been covered in local grass and moss, and is accessible from within the house, creating a unique place to relax and enjoy the lake views.
Blackened wood siding has been installed to contrast the green roof and surrounding trees.
Sliding glass doors and windows allow the impressive view to be seen through the home.
Inside, there’s an open plan kitchen and dining room. Both have black accents, however, the dining room also includes a wood slat ceiling and a black fireplace.
Steps lead from the dining room down to the living room that’s filled with natural light from the large windows.
Wood stairs connect the various levels of the home, while wood slats complement those found on the ceiling in the dining room.
