Nicole Hodsdon of design studio Ciseal, creates modern bent plywood furniture and decor, like firewood holders and magazine racks.
Based in Troy, Michigan, Ciseal was inspired by the midcentury modern architecture and design that’s found around Detroit.
Nicole mentions, “The thoughtful, functional blend of nature and the modern, clean lines of these buildings influenced me to create my own designs using the natural material and modern method of woodlayering.”
The Mission Firewood Holder was inspired by the design of the aspen leaf, and has a shape that cradles the firewood. Small metal feet to stop the holder from tipping over.
The natural wood, modern lines, and hand-crafted attention to detail, create completely unique pieces, that are strong yet light, due to the multiple wood veneer layers used to craft the pieces.
