Andrey Sokruta Workshop was tasked with designing a modern apartment for a couple in their 50s in the Ukrainian city of Kyiv. An interesting design feature in the bedroom is a wood tiled accent wall in a honeycomb pattern.
The clients liked the idea of a hexagonal tile wall that was presented as a design element during the visualization process, however, the design team quickly discovered that a similar product in wood didn’t exist.
Andrey Sokruta turned to local craftsmen to create his vision of 3-dimensional wood tiles. It took two wood masters two and a half months and many tries to make the design and get the desired warm honey color.
At night, the bedside lamp creates a soft glow that’s reflected on the bottom edges of the hexagonal tiles.
One unexpected benefit of this custom-designed accent wall, is that it caught the eye of Your Forest, a Ukrainian company that now makes and sells the wooden tiles by Andrey Sokruta under the name Mosaic Honey.
