Architect Sonya Lee has shared photos of the new location of Meow Parlour, a cat cafe in New York that had outgrown its previous space.
The storefront has a 10’ wall of white oak shelves that spell out M E O W, which also function as signage, a playspace for the cats to snuggle in between the letters, and as a countertop display.
The new interior design includes house-inspired seating cubbies with holes in the roof and floating shelves to allow the cats to freely roam the space, while underneath cat-shaped cutouts create areas for the cats to hide.
A wall of shelving with cabinets, also includes round cutouts between the shelves, letting the cats play and explore. The base cabinets provide storage and display surfaces for all the locally sourced, handmade cat toys, clothing, and souvenirs.
In the middle of the room is a ‘tree’ with climbing platforms and beds hanging from the branches, while on the wall, there are wall-mounted cat beds that add additional visual interest to the interior.
