London-based multi-media artist Rowan Mersh, has created ‘Placuna Pro Dilectione Mea II’, a circular wall sculpture that has the delicate appearance of tightly arranged feathers, but it’s actually made from something entirely different.

To create the wall-mounted sculpture, Rowan has used Capiz Shells, also known as the Windowpane oyster, which have been used for thousands of years as a glass substitute due to their durability and translucence.

By using Capiz shells, Rowan has been able to create a modern sculptural design that looks soft to the touch and displays an abundance of texture.
