Design studio FÄRG & BLANCHE together with REVOL, have created SUCCESSION, a line of porcelain tableware for PETITE FRITURE, that features textured exteriors and contemporary lines.
After first coming up with sketches of what they wanted the finished products to look like, design studio FÄRG & BLANCHE created felt covered forms with string and wire cords wrapped around them.
The forms were then heated in the oven to preserve the patterns created by the restraints. This allowed the molds to be created without the cords being attached to the forms making it easier to remove the forms from the molds and making the lines smoother.
Once the forms had been made the artisans at REVOL took over to create the actual molds as well as the products themselves. REVOL used traditional molding techniques to ensure that the finished products would have the both the distinct lines and the textured finish created by the felt.
Using the forms that they created, they then made the master molds that the porcelain would then be poured into to make the final products.
After being poured and dried, the pieces were then taken out of the molds and carefully cleaned up by artists to remove any seams while still preserving the texture and lines.
The unique properties of porcelain allow the final products to have two kinds of finishes – a raw, matte finish on the exterior and a smooth, shiny, enameled finish on the interior.
