When looking at as many projects as we do, sometimes there’s a design idea that gets our attention, and Le Nolinski, a recently opened hotel in Paris, has done just this.
What caught our eye is the corner design detail of the molding used on the walls and ceilings. Normally wall molding is a sign of traditional design, but the way it was used in the rooms of this hotel has made it more contemporary.
Designed by Jean-Louis Deniot, the hotel features this decorative molding element throughout the rooms, like behind this sideboard, to visually draw your eye to the decor items, and in turn making them a focal point within the room.
Here, you can see how the traditional rectangle designs have still been used, but they have been paired with the more contemporary element on the wall to the right and the ceiling.
By applying the molding to specific walls, it gives furniture a place to belong.
