When Australian firm, Those Architects, were transforming a late 19th century heritage-listed four bedroom cottage into a larger contemporary home, they had to redesign the kitchen.

As part of the redesign, a new matte black kitchen was included that features floor to ceiling cabinetry. With the upper cabinets being quite high, they decided to include a rolling ladder that runs the length of the cabinets, allowing for easy access.

The black ladder, which matches the cabinets, makes it easier for the members of the family who might not be tall enough to reach the upper cabinets on their own. When not in use, it can simply be pushed to either end of the kitchen.
