The team behind Unseen Art are trying to help the blind and visually impaired community, experience classical art in an entirely new way, by 3D printing the art pieces, so that they can feel the art.
The process starts with an image, for example the Mona Lisa, that a designer uses to create a digital version of the artwork.
The digital image is then turned into a computer generated 3D model of the Mona Lisa (or any other artwork).
From there, the 3D model is printed using a 3D printer.
Once printed, a visually impaired person, can experience what they have only heard about.
The aim for Unseen Art is to make the files accessible all over the world, for people to be able to print the artworks anywhere they can access a 3D printer.
