Lang Architecture have sent us photos of a recently completed home that is part of Hudson Woods, a housing development in the Catskills forest of New York.
The architect’s description
Encompassing 131 acres of lush Catskills forest, Lang Architecture’s Hudson Woods features 26 architect-designed dwellings meticulously crafted from locally-sourced, sustainable materials.
The two-story, 2,800-square-foot model residence is private yet welcoming, with generous spaces for living and entertaining, and distinctive wood details throughout.
On the upper level, a state-of-the-art kitchen – equipped with oak cabinetry, concrete countertops and Smeg appliances, along with a custom island by local furniture company Sawkille Co. and a free-standing black walnut pantry hand-built by local wood-worker Samuel Moyer – blends into a bright and lofty great room.
A 16-foot-high gable window overlooks a wrap-around deck and a bluestone-hemmed pool that blends perfectly into the surroundings.
Also looking out onto the deck, the master suite boasts a spacious walk-in closet and a full bathroom, expertly appointed with a rainfall shower, grey quartzite tile flooring by Walker Zanger, and in-floor radiant heating.
An architecturally significant stairwell leads to the lower level, where two quiet bedrooms book-end a cozy but sun-filled den that is flanked by large picture windows.
Also on the ground floor are a full bathroom, laundry room and walk-in closet. Outside, a detached garage/studio provides yet another opportunity for storage and living space.
Like the model home, each dwelling at Hudson Woods will be architect-designed and built for sustainability.
Buyers select from two house plans on a range of three- to 12-acre lots and can customize their property inside and out with an array of amenities and upgrades, from an extra bathroom and a solar power energy system to an electric car charger, architect-designed treehouse, pool house with sauna, guest house, green house, screen porch with outdoor cooking facilities, and a fruit grove and vegetable garden.
A four-season getaway, Hudson Woods is nestled into the picturesque beauty of the Hudson River Valley-Catskills region, a destination for outdoor recreation. Hunter Mountain, Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Preserve are all conveniently located within 40 miles of Hudson Woods, making skiing, kayaking, horseback riding, biking and golfing easily accessible.
