Hamza Ait Kaddour of 3Designs, has transformed a plain 3 bedroom 1980s apartment in Taichung City, Taiwan, and given it a contemporary update.
In the entryway, a decorative tile accent has been installed, and a wall of changeable wood shelving has been added.

The original white tile flooring featured throughout the apartment has been replaced with hardwood flooring, adding a sense of warmth and comfort to the interior.

By the living room window, a new window seat with storage was added, while opposite the couch, a new wood shelf with drawers and a black shelving unit have been added.

At the end of the couch, a custom shelving nook and desk have been added. The wall has been painted to highlight the design element, and hidden lighting in the ceiling creates an ambient light above the couch.

What was once a plain and empty alcove has been transformed into useful space that now houses cabinetry and an open display shelf.

In the wide hallway connecting the living room with the other areas of the apartment, the designers relocated the lighting and created a designated space for a small four-person dining table.

The kitchen, located off the hallway, has had the lime green sections of the cabinets replaced with wood fronts, and the blue glass backsplash has been replaced with decorative tiles.

In the master bedroom, white cabinetry has been added to create storage, while a blue accent becomes a backdrop for the bed. A desk has also been added under the window, and on the opposite side of the bed, a sliding wood barn door reveals the ensuite bathroom.

In the ensuite bathroom, new tiles replaced the old, a pedestal sink and square mirror was replaced with a vanity that has storage and a round hanging mirror. A partial glass screen was also added to separate the bath/shower from vanity, keeping the rest of the bathroom dry.

In a guest bathroom, a built-in bathtub has been removed and replaced by a large walk-in shower with dark tiles on the floor and decorative black and white tiles on the wall. A new washbasin now rests on a walnut cabinet, and marble tiles cover the walls.
